MUNCIE, Ind. (The CI) - As Fox 59 reports a heat wave throughout Central Indiana, Ball State University students are going to class today in “warmer-than-normal conditions,” following a leak in the HVAC system resulting in a campus-wide AC and chilled water outage.
In a statement sent to students, Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer Mike Fowler said the leak was contained, Facilities is restoring “normal air conditioning,” and the University expects restoration in “most buildings” by noon on Friday, September 4, “at this time.”
Unverified screenshots circulating on social media allegedly show a statement from Housing and Residence Life, claiming all dorm halls other than Kinghorn were without AC last night. We are working to verify the legitimacy of this statement.
The CI has reached out to Fowler and Vice President of Student Affairs Ro-Anne Royer Engle for comment. Royer Engle provided information to contact Associate Vice President of University Communications and Digital Strategy Greg Fallon. We’ve reached out to Fallon for comment.
